WeatherReady Fest Kicked Off The NWA Annual Conference In Santa Ana, California

The 2nd annual WeatherReady Fest, hosted by the NWA Foundation, was held at the Discovery Cube OC Science Center in Santa Ana. Over 1600 guests were able to enjoy the science activities and received free information from vendors and public agencies.

Partners attending the event included the Orange County Sheriff’s Emergency Division, CalOES Southern Region, USFS GACC Riverside, Orange County Volunteer Fire Watch, California Data Information Program, American Red Cross, California Department of Water Resources, Hoag Hospital’s Project Wipeout, Moulton Niguel Water District, 911Weather, Baron, Midland Radio, “The Weather Dude” Nick Walker from The Weather Channel, WeatherBrains, NBC4 Los Angeles meteorologists, and two Doppler On Wheels vehicles.

All kids received a WeatherReady Fest Passport Booklet, and when completed they were entered into a drawing for door prizes. On the center stage, there were three separate flood preparedness shows featuring PlanIT Now’s NWS Owlie Skywarn (Trisha Palmer) and meteorologist/actor Alex Tardy. Bill Murray and the NWA Foundation worked with NWS San Diego to plan the event.
