WeatherReady Fest

What is WeatherReady Fest?

Learn how to be better prepared for a disaster with the Virtual WeatherReady Fest!

Billion-dollar weather disasters are a regular occurrence today. The devastating impacts of extreme events like tornado outbreaks, widespread floods, destructive hurricanes, crippling droughts, deadly wildfires, and earthquakes can be reduced by teaching people useful preparedness and resilience techniques.

For the past four consecutive years, WeatherReady Fest has been an opening event to the National Weather Association’s annual meeting. Thousands of eager learners of all ages have attended in-person to learn about those disasters and how to prepare for them. Unfortunately, with the ongoing global pandemic, we have had to go to a virtual platform and have the 2020 WeatherReady Fest completely online.

We will have plenty of videos on a plethora of weather and disaster subjects from the National Weather Service forecast offices, TV meteorologists, scientific research facilities, authors, and more. We will also have plenty of articles and links for many weather phenomena that occur across the world… ranging from tornadoes and hurricanes to floods and droughts to wildfires and blizzards.

Charles Dudley Warner is quoted as saying, “Everybody complains about the weather, but nobody does anything about it.” But here you will find all kinds of people who are doing something: experts who study hurricanes, tornadoes, lightning, and more—to help keep people safe.

Whether you are a teacher looking for videos and links to help teach your students about weather events, to adults who just want to brush up on your weather knowledge, the 2020 Virtual WeatherReady Fest website is right for you!
